Welcome to Jess Hart Nutrition! I am so glad that you found me. I am a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and a Culinary Nutrition Expert. I have a BA in International Studies from Trinity Western University. I am also a wife and mama to two sweet little girls.
Food, and what to eat and whether to eat it, has ruled most of my life. I spent years seeing food as something to eschew to make myself physically smaller, mentally punishing myself when that didn’t work as well as I hoped. After having daughters, however, I realized that I wanted them to be raised in a world that cherishes their health over their weight. And I knew that I would have to be the one to teach them what being healthy really looks like. I started thinking about health and what eating healthy actually is. I read books, watched documentaries, and listened to podcasts. However, I found so much conflicting advice as I began devouring this information: Paleo or Vegan, Raw or Cooked, Gluten or Gluten-Free? Looking for more concrete answers, I enrolled in the Natural Nutrition program at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, earning the designation of R.H.N. (Registered Holistic Nutritionist). That wasn’t quite enough for me, so I enrolled in the Academy of Culinary Nutrition to learn how to put all of that knowledge into practice. Through those programs, I now understand that we are all unique, with individual nutritional needs based on our genetic make-up, where we are in our lives, and even our personal preferences.
My own journey has brought me to a place where I am continually learning which foods support my health, and adjusting this as my physical, emotional, and mental needs fluctuate with life. When I am my healthiest self, I am creative, energetic, boundless, determined, and fun. I can play soccer with my daughters, laugh with my friends, and contribute to my community. I want the same health for my sweet girls. And I also want that for you.
